| The Black & Decker Textured Series 500-Watt Food Processor is an economical and efficient unit that will save you time on many of your food preparation tasks. This unit has a powerful 500-watt motor, which is capable of chopping raw (or cooked) meat; making bread, cookie or cracker crumbs; mincing garlic, herbs or berries; shredding carrots or cabbage; slicing cheese, pepperoni or vegetables; and more. The unit comes with a 10-cup-capacity work bowl, double-sided chopping blade, dough blade, stainless-steel slicing/shredding disc, cover with feed chute and food pusher. The weighted motor base will sit firmly on your countertop.
The exterior has a pebbled texture finish, which is attractive and resists smudges and fingerprints to always present a clean appearance. Three touchpad control buttons (on, off, pulse) start and stop the motor and also initiate power in short bursts, which are effective for obtaining evenly chopped foods. For more consistent results, the pulse action allows foods to settle in the bowl before the blade spins again. Pulsing also lets you see the progress so you're less likely to overprocess foods. The unit's reversible slicing/shredding disc can be substituted for the chopping blade when those functions are desired. A separate disc stem is used to elevate the blade in the bowl so the blade is just under the cover and food chute, where foods are inserted for processing.
For making dough, the work bowl can accommodate ingredients for one standard loaf of bread, two pizza crusts or one 9-inch pie crust. When processing liquid ingredients, the work bowl's capacity is reduced to about 2 cups. Although the work bowl has a 10-cup capacity, you should avoid overcrowding to achieve the best results. When chopping meats, for example, chop in small (1-2 cup) batches.
